Planning for...
Contingencies Other than Death
Incapacitation - have a Court appoint someone to declare a person "incompetent" - or use a Power of Attorney...or use a Trust
Medical Care - if you are unconscious or need medical attention use a Power of Attorney for Health Care or use a Trust
Artificial Life Support - if the condition is terminal to avoid being kept alive unnecessarily - use a Living Will Declaration...when and when not to use it and when and when not to record it...indicate what person you want to make such decisions (and spell out who you respectfully decline to so designate)
Avoiding probate (it is not always a horror story and can often be accomplished economically in a reasonably short time) with the Living Trust
Highly Appreciated Assets - if you sell them, the tax on the gain might be huge - use a Charitable Remainder Trust to retain some benefit, get a tax break and help your favorite charity
